Chuck Heflin, current republican County Commissioner for the 5th District, is seeking to be the next Bedford County Mayor. Chuck was born and raised in Bedford County. His hard working parents, Charles and Verna, instilled in him the love of Family, God, and Country, and taught him to serve others. Forty-three years ago, he married his high school sweetheart, Nita, and together they taught those same values to their five children.
After all of his children had started their own families, Chuck felt the call to public service. In 2010, he was appointed to the Bedford County Beer Board. In 2013, He began volunteering as a Reserve Deputy for the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, and in 2014, he was elected as one of only two Republicans to the Bedford County Board of Commissioners.
While serving on the commission, Chuck has fought hard to hold the line on wasteful spending, opposing unnecessary tax increases and insisting on a more transparent and efficient government. Chuck has worked to promote the growth and stability of Bedford County. He was appointed to help create the Commerce Park Oversight Committee, and serves as Vice-Chair. The 231 North Commerce Park is Bedford County’s first publicly owned business park and, as a Tennessee Select Site property, it provides a prime opportunity to bring in new industry and better paying jobs to Bedford County.
Chuck believes strongly in the core principles of the Republican platform, smaller government, fewer taxes, free enterprise, greater personal freedoms and accountability, the right to life, and the 2nd amendment. Chuck works extremely hard for the people of Bedford County as a county commissioner, and as Bedford County Mayor, Chuck plans to work even harder to stop wasteful spending, hold down taxes, promote job growth, and increase the efficiency and transparency of the County’s government. “I believe those in public service must be honest with the public about what is going on, and I have strived to do just that. I openly communicate about what I do and how I feel with the public, and I am always available to listen to and speak with the citizens,” said Chuck.” I want to hear from you about whatever concerns and issues you may have. Please feel free to contact me at or call 931-703-3046.”
JOBS: Small business is the backbone of our community and our nation, and provides more jobs than the big corporations combined.. We MUST find ways to ease the taxes and regulations that unjustly burden them and commit to enhance their ability to grow and thrive.
SOLID WASTE: I encourage a more aggressive plan on recycling such as recycling containers at ALL convenience centers, an educational program for our citizens and making home recycling bins available for purchase.
